INSIDE GRENADA MARCH 11, 2008 From the Office of the Commissioner of Police The Commissioner of Police Mr. Winston James has advised officers of the Central Division to be vigilant, and mount the appropriate responses to loitering around the City of St. George on Wednesday and Thursday evenings after the 2008 Intercol Track & Field Sport Meeting. Commissioner James is seeking the cooperation of parents, guardians, teachers and Games Officials to ensure that students and athletes attending the 2008 InterCol Track & Field Sports meeting do not loiter along the streets of St. George’s, at the Bus Terminus, Fort George or any other area around the city. Parents, guardians and teachers are urged to advise their children and students to utilize the available transportation immediately after the event to return to their respective homes and schools. The Commissioner is impressing on Principals, teachers and parents to ensure that proper transportation arrangements are made, and a senior person is designated the monitor and control same after the sports meeting. Meanwhile Commissioner James is also calling on vendors operating in the vicinity of the sports meeting to refrain from selling alcoholic beverages to minors. The concern was drawn to the attention of the Commissioner and he has directed Officers to be vigilant and closely monitor the vending activities on the outer perimeter of the sporting event. Vendors are also advised to keep in their possession the required licenses during their vending operations. The cooperation and assistance of the public would be very helpful in monitoring the situation.
