Local Calypso judge Alan Robinson will today (Friday, April 18) join some of his fellow regional counterparts as an adjudicator for the King of Kings Calypso Competition that forms part of Carnival Celebrations on the Dutch island of St. Marteen. The King of Kings show features ten (10) past winners from the islands of St. Marteen, Saba, St. Barts and St. Eustatius. In addition to Robinson, calypso judges from Curacao and St. Kitts will also make up the judging panel. The format of the competition requires competitors to perform a previous winning number in addition to a new composition. This is the second time in recent months that Robinson has adjudicated a regional competition. He along with Colin Dowe joined others from around the region to judge the Carifesta Calypso competition. Locally, Robinson was the chief judge for the 2005 and 2006 Soca Monarch competitions and continues to be actively involved in the development of the artform through his involvement as a facilitator of the Grenada Co-operative Bank Junior Calypso Workshops.
