POLICE ADVICE TO PROMOTERS AND ORGANIZERS OF PUBLIC ACT...  
GRENADA, May 20, 2008 - The Office of the Commissioner of Police is advising all promoters and event planners organizing events and activities in public places, that requires the authorization of, and services from the Royal Grenada Police Force that permission for same must be obtained in advance of the activity. Commissioner of Police Mr. Winston James warns that authorization is not automatic, and advises that request for same must be submitted a minimum of ten working days before the activity. All letters of application must be submitted to Office of the Commissioner Police Headquarters Fort George St. George’s. The following information must be included in the application letters. 1. Date, time and venue of the planned activity 2. Type/nature of the activity 3. Expected patronage 4. Detailed contact information of organizers/planners Organizers and planners are also advised that authorization must be applied for each activity, on an individual basis, as permission will not be granted for a series of events. Commissioner James has expressed his concerned about the number of events being held in public places without the authorization and/or knowledge of the Royal Grenada Police Force. Commissioner James stated that most of these events take place on weekends and a number of reports have been made about the high noise levels, disruption in the flow of vehicular traffic and the extended hours of the activity. As the country prepares for Carnival 2008 and other related festivals, all promoters and organizer are advised to be guided accordingly.
