MINISTRY CALLS FOR AN END TO ILLEGAL DUMPING ALONG ROA...
Thursday 21st May 2008, St George’s: It has been brought to the attention of the Ministry of Communication, Works and Transport that persons are illegally dumping waste materials from construction sites and the like, on the road sides and into the rivers throughout the country. One of the areas most significantly affected is the St John River in the Mt Gay area. These waste materials are not only unsightly, but also threaten the environment. The Ministry is asking the persons responsible for these practices to desist from doing so. If these illegal practices continue the Ministry of Communication, Works and Transport will seek the assistance of the Royal Grenada Police Force to have the perpetrators apprehended and/or charged. The public is encouraged to dispose of their waste in the proper way by utilizing the services provided by the Grenada Solid Waste Management Authority and/or by carrying their waste materials to the authorized dump sites that have been provided.
