JAMAICAN ARTIST WAS WARNED ABOUT LYRICS IN GRENADA
The New National Party (NNP) government in Grenada said it was forced to caution Jamaican dance hall artiste Vegas about using offensive lyrics during his recent live performance at one of its rallies. Youth Minister Senator Emmalin Pierre made her disclosure in response to public concerns as the party faced a likely fall-out over another pre-election concert. Local media have reported that Vegas' performance featured songs promoting drug use and branding women as prostitutes in the presence of ruling party officials. Miss Pierre said the artiste was advised that he should immediately refrain from offensive lyrics and he complied. Callers to talk shows had complained against the choice of some of the lyrics used by Vegas, some of which were played back on several local TV stations. A month ago, there was public outcry following a concert with another Jamaican artiste Beenie Man. This forced NNP officials to apologize for aspects of the event. In a surprise move, on Sunday night Prime Minister Mitchell announced that general elections will be held on July 8. Reprinted from radioja.com

i think we all know grenadians always welcome visitors and respect them .especially foreign artist.who they try to immitate in so many ways .so why should the pm and his party invite a guy with unwanted lyrics ,so as to draw big crowds since they then have the chance to see that artist free ,just another way of bribeing , something he is a master of , something he knows that lots of grenadians gladly accept regardless of what lies behind the bribe .its a shame to see what election has become ,i am really disappointed in the ndc for not exposing some or all the misdealings of the nnp ,in fear that people would say they are campaigning dirty , but speaking the truth is not dirty , wake up my people , two months work before election , and 4 years and months vacation should not be enough for your vote ,restarting a project that was halted last election ,that should not be something you think is progress unless the pm is right ,liberation day is coming ,but for who and from what , time to wake up ,

The NNP cannot state what they achieve from that concert, the youths did not get any job,or got money to go to university.Mr.Vegas got his big bucks, when converted to Jamaican dollars he is a millionaire. After 13years,if the NNP did their work right, they should not be trying to buy the youths votes with cheap tactics. The intelligent youths should have been able to see everything as it is.This is how lawless the NNP has allow the country to become.Birds of one feather flock together-NNP AND MR.VEGAS

Please we are so petty here it is not even funny. We must respect the art if you donot like the the lyrics please stay home.Grown people have the rights to listen what ever they want. There are more pressing matters in Grenada.Jobs, housing,Education, health just to name a few. Here in Grenada we are simpleminded, with a good education and proper parenting those entertainments mean just that.We look at outside forces to much as role models.I hope that one day we will understand that our faults are not external. Why are we blaming others for our fail proper educational system, our dismal parenting?
