VOTER'S LIST BEING FINALIZED
Grenada's Electoral Office said the voters list for the upcoming general election has fewer voters than the 82,000 registered voters list used in the last election. More than 70,000 Grenadians are eligible to vote. They will be choosing from forty candidates representing three political parties including the ruling New National Party of Prime Minister Keith Mitchell and the National Democratic Congress led by Tilman Thomas. Supervisor of elections Nadica McIntyre said the office has been trying to clean up the list. "For a population of approximately 100,000, 80,000 voters is a lot of voters. We tried to clean up the list with an enumeration process that started just after the last election in 2004. "We also introduced continuous registration and that too helped us to clean up the list but we're releasing that we have in excess of 70,000 registered voters," she said.
