St George’s: With reassurances that all steps will be taken to ensure impartiality of enforcing the IAGDO's Code of Conduct by the Grenada Conference of Churches, Prime Minister Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell has said that The New National Party (NNP) will be signing the IAGDO Code of Conduct and is ready to debate the NDC anytime, anywhere, since it is in the electorate's interests to see for themselves how unfit the NDC is to lead this beautiful and promising nation. The New National Party wishes to advise the public that the IAGDO's Code of Conduct does not contain a structured process by which the "watchdog" group receives, investigates, verifies and reports to the public violations or compliance with the Code. Without having a structure to guide the watchdog function, the NNP has maintained that there is considerable room for misinterpretation, misuse and mistakes. The fact that the NNP has not heard any reports of the NDC violations of the Code to date, leaves a degree of concern that the Code may not be enforced in an impartial and unbiased manner. The NDC have used the NNP's concerns about this unregulated and unstructured watchdog function embedded in the Code, as an excuse to deny the public the opportunity to observe the Candidates in debates. By doing so, the NDC is undermining the electoral process and the foundation of democracy by attempting to deny the public the right to genuinely evaluate the NDC's lack of readiness to hold public office.
