AS THE POLLS CLOSED...
The counting of ballots is already underway in Grenada where the polls closed on Tuesday evening. The governing New National Party is seeking a record fourth term but the opposition National Democratic Congress hopes to prevent that from happening. As Grenada waits to hear which party will emerge the victor incumbent Prime Minister Keith Mitchell was predicting that his party will take at least 11 of the 15 seats up for grabs. "The young voters appear to be going strongly for the New National Party and therefore that clearly means by implications that the large voter turn out is in the government's interest. The mobilization is extremely solid, quite different from the last election," said Grenada's incumbent Prime Minister, Keith Mitchell. And the NDC Leader Tillman Thomas was also optimistic that his party had done well enough at the polls to become the new government. "It appears that there was a large turn out and that appears to be in our favour indicating that people really want change. By midnight tonight we will know. At the end of the day I believe that my leadership will prevail, being humble, sincere and doing what the people expect of me not talking down to people but putting things in place to bring benefits to people," said Mr. Thomas.
