GRENADA HOLDS ITS BREATH
The people of Grenada have been awaiting the outcome of Tuesday's general elections. The governing New National Party is seeking a record fourth straight term - the opposition National Democratic Congress hopes to stop that from happening. Speaking moments before the close of the polls the NNP's leader, prime minister Keith Mitchell sounded upbeat about his chances of returning to power, while the NDC leader Tillman Thomas felt his party had done enough to force a change. The island's supervisor of elections, Nadica McIntyre told BBC Caribbean there were "some glitches" in the voting process but none serious enough to affect the overall outcome. The OAS observer mission said it was pleased with the conduct of the polls. Reprinted from bbccaribbean.com
