LIAT SUSPENDS FLIGHTS IN ANTICIPATION OF BAD WEATHER
Regional airline LIAT Wednesday suspended flights in anticipation of bad weather from a tropical system approaching the Windward Islands. The National Hurricane Centre in Miami advised earlier Wednesday that the developing system, will be located 200 miles east of the Windward Islands by late afternoon. The system which is expected to move westward at 20 to 25 miles per hour, is well organised and would bring gusty winds and heavy rains to the countries of the island chain later Wednesday and Thursday. A release from LIAT said services to and from Grenada, St. Lucia and St. Vincent have been suspended. CEO of LIAT, Mark Darby, explained that once the system reached Barbados, services throughout LIAT's route network could be affected and therefore he wanted to give passengers the opportunity to put the necessary arrangements in place, should flights be delayed or cancelled due to the weather. The carrier has advised the travelling public to listen to the radio and to keep in touch with the airport. Reprinted from radioja.com
