GRENADA HAS A NEW PLAN TO FIGHT HIV/AIDS
Grenada is using its Carnival celebrations to launch the latest strategy against the spread of the deadly HIV/AIDS virus. "We don't want anyone to get infected as a result of one careless action during the Carnival season. We want everyone to take all the necessary precaution so that we can put the brakes on AIDS. The intention is to make Grenada HIV/AIDS free," said Caroline Alexis-Thomas, the head of the National AIDS Directorate. The Carnival education programme is being conducted under the theme 'Put the brakes on AIDS' and Alexis-Thomas said the aim is to heighten the population's awareness to the virus, particularly the young people.
