GRENVILLE (August 7, 2008): - Firemen attached to the Grenville Police Station are in the process of investigating the cause of a fire which completely destroyed the old Anglican Primary School building in the heart of the town of Grenville, St. Andrew’s last night. The fire is believed to have started sometime after midnight. The building - described by some as a historical landmark - is located next to the Anglican Church on Victoria Street. The old structure was used to educate thousands of young boys and girls from the parish of St. Andrew over the years but has not been used to house students for some time now because it was deemed structurally unsound – the possible results of years of disrepair and the awesome fury of Hurricane Ivan. The students presently attending the St. Andrew’s Anglican Primary School should not suffer any unnecessary interruption to their education when school reopens on September 01 because they are presently housed in some painted ply buildings in the old school yard. These structures were built after Hurricane Ivan in 2004.
