SIMMONS URGES YOUTH TO BE RESPONSIBLE
Minister for Youth Empowerment Patrick Simmons has appealed to young people to be responsible in their conduct as the Carnival season winds down. He said they should be conscious that a few moments of indulging in the wrong types of pleasures during Carnival can result in a lifetime of despair, hopelessness and frustration. Referring to the excessive consumption of alcohol and food, promiscuity and violence that are often associated with the season, the minister in his national Carnival address on the weekend urged young people not to engage in dangerous activities. Grenada’s Carnival concludes tomorrow with the last lap jump up on the streets but the season began 3 Aug., with nightly activities. Some of the national activities included steel band, soca and groovy calypso competitions and a national queen show. There were also a host of privately organised fetes. Reprinted from sun.com
