GRENADA POLICE OFFICERS UNDER INVESTIGATION
Commissioner of Police in Grenada, James Clarkson has ordered an investigation into the conduct of a number of police officers after reviewing a video recording that was brought to his attention. The video recording showed police officers arresting a suspect on Monday, August 11, 2008 outside the National Stadium during Carnival Pageant. Although the incident was not recorded in its entirety, the images seen on the video, according to a police release, were very disturbing and such behaviour will not be condoned and/or encouraged within the ranks of the Royal Grenada Police Force, said Clarkson. “Based on what we have seen, the methods and approach used by some of the officers while executing their duties in this particular matter was unprofessional,” the Commissioner concluded. Inspector Augustine Kerabe Belfon has been directed to conduct the investigation, which is expected to reveal what caused the incident and, equally important, what prompted the reaction of the police.
