GRENADA STILL TO DECIDE ON POLITICAL UNION
Grenada is yet to make a final decision on the proposed political union within the sub-region. This came to light Thursday as some eastern Caribbean leaders met in St. Lucia to discuss the proposal from the government of Trinidad and Tobago. According to Grenada's foreign Minister, Peter David although the declaration was signed to take the move forward the final decision has not been made. Grenada, St. Vincent and the Grenadines and St. Lucia last month agreed to look into a plan to establish an economic union with Trinidad and Tobago by 2011 and an appropriate political union two years later. It was also decided that the door was open for other countries of the Organisation of Eastern Caribbean States (OECS). Since the signing of the declaration, Prime Minister Patrick Manning of Trindiad and Tobago has visited several regional countries to hold talks with their leaders on the plan.
