NATIONAL SECONDARY SCHOOL'S QUIZ AND SPELLING B READY T...  
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports is currently making final preparations for the preliminary round of its National Secondary School’s Quiz and Spelling B Competition taking place on Friday October 3, 2008 throughout the various parishes. The quiz and Spelling B competition is aimed at the academic and self-development of the participants. The quiz will take place on a zonal basis: •Zone 1, includes the St. Joseph’s Convent-Grenville, St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School and Grenville Secondary School being hosted by the St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School. •Zone 2, includes the St. Mark’s Secondary, St. John’s Christian Secondary, and St. Rose Modern Secondary being hosted by the St. John’s Pastoral Centre. •Zone 3, St. David’s Catholic Secondary and Westerhall Secondary being hosted by the Westerhall Secondary School. •Zone 4, Grenada Boys Secondary School, Happy Hill Secondary School, Wesley College, St. Joseph’s Convent-St. George, Presentation Brother’s College, Boca Secondary School being hosted by the Boca Secondary School •Zone 5, Bishop’s College and Hillsborough Secondary being hosted by the Carriacou Resource Centre. Project Coordinator in the Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports, Mr. Norman Gilbert, says the activity provides an excellent opportunity for young persons to enhance their academic ability especially when they are required to undertake research, think on their feet and be accurate. He said the fact that the history questions are locally based, provides an opportunity for them to expand their knowledge on their country. According to Mr. Gilbert, the public can expect a keenly contested event amongst the participants.
