The Physical Planning Unit (PPU) is working together with the Canadian Institute of Planners (CIP) and the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) in developing a local area plan for St Patrick’s. The objectives of The Greater Sauteurs Local Area Plan include: * To facilitate economic development through tourism, agriculture and fishing; * To preserve the natural and cultural heritage; * Ensure the provision of adequate social amenities within the community; and * Reduce the vulnerability of the community and surrounding areas to natural hazards Head of the Physical Planning Unit, Mr. Cecil Frederick said that the project will be taking a community based approach and will include the following: * The establishment of a steering committee for strategic advice; * Geographic Information System (GIS) analysis; * Community wide interviews ; * Public/ private/ NGO sector interviews; and * Public Consultations The areas identified to be undertaken in this project include Mt Alexander, Helvellyn, Marli, Celeste, Mt Craven, Welcome Hall and Levera. A presentation of the objectives and methodology of the project was recently made to the Minister for Works, Physical Development and the Environment, and Parliamentary Representative for St Patrick’s West Hon. Joseph Gilbert; Minister of State in the Ministry, Hon. Sylvester Quarless; and Permanent Secretary Mrs. Veda Bruno-Victor. Minister Gilbert commended the Physical Planning Unit and their Canadian counterparts on their approach to this project. He said that the people of St Patrick’s will welcome a project of this nature since they will be given the opportunity to be included in the planning process. The Minister also suggested some areas that should be considered in the planning of the project. They include: * Improvements to drains (covered); * Wider sidewalks; * Development of tourism package to effectively market St Patrick’s as a Tourism Product; and * Restoration of the separation reef and bathing area at Bathway among others. Minister Gilbert also added that Government will give the support that is required in getting this project underway. The first public consultation for this project will be held on Thursday October 9 at the St Patrick’s Anglican School at 5:30pm. Aren't we glad or happy to buy or own property in other countries where we live or have lived? We need to think and really think at times. Many of you may not have lived abroad, but you still do benefit from the opportunity your families have abroad.

If we could recapture some of the funds stolen by the Keith Mitchel regime, or get take back the lands that he gave to his cronies for $5.00 a square foot and public auction it to the Grenadian community, then we may be able to use some of these monies hopefully to develop some of these projects and do some good in the local community, but we need to put KEITH MITCHEL and his boys in jail, in jail, in jail.
