STANLEY COMMENTS ON THE COLLAPSE OF THE STATE CASE AGAI...
October 15, 2008: ST. GEORGE'S - It is not as some people may think a great relief for me that my case has been discontinued. This seditious charge against me was instigated by Dr. Keith Mitchell a most unsavory character whose tenure as prime minister of Grenada is distinguished by a series of inglorious allegations. It is most regretful that the system in Grenada lacked MATCH PRACTICE and has a culture of being TOADY towards political influence. It is repugnant for me to accept that those who are charged with upholding the law of the land would stoop to ‘deploying’ an archival law as seditious libel against me to prevent a plan crime from being exposed. It is important to recall that Dr. Mitchell went on the media and said CHARGES WOULD BE BROUGHT – this artist of stealth and guile did not hesitate in the use of state power to constrain and subvert events. I am deeply grateful to my most eminent and distinguished lawyer Mr. Ruggles Ferguson of the firm Ciboney Chambers for his unflinching desire to attain a conclusion to this case. People who believe in human rights, those who work in the media and those who are wedded to the democratic progress should ask how is it defensible that a man can be GUILTY AS CHARGED – truth is not a defense as is the case under the seditious law which governed my case – it flies in the face of the Grenada Constitution which provides for the accused to be innocent until proven guilty – for the state to deny me my basic rights – to send me to jail to deliberately pursue me – to restrict me from traveling for all these many years causing excruciating and debilitating hardship and suffering to me and my family. All events orchestrated by the invisible Executive arm of the state allegedly driven by rouges govern by a culture of stealth. I hope that, those who are committed to freedom of expression and democratic principles would leverage the government to repel this seditious law – a law that is anathema to a free society.
