The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports is getting ready for the final leg of its Youth Month activities which got underway on 1 October 2008. On Monday, October 27, 2008 the Ministry will host the finals of its National Secondary Schools Quiz and Spelling B competitions at the St. Rose Modern Secondary School beginning at 1:30 p.m. Five schools have qualified for the final round of competitions after facing stiff challenges from their opponents in the preliminaries which were held on 3 October on a zonal basis. The competitions are expected to be of high quality. The finalists for the quiz are: Grenada Boys’ Secondary School St. John’s Christian Secondary School Bishop’s College St. Andrew’s Anglican Secondary School St. David’s Catholic Secondary School The finalists for the Spelling B competition are: Presentation Brother’s College St. David’s Catholic Secondary School St. Joseph’s Convent, Grenville Bishop’s College St. John’s Christian Secondary School The Quiz and Spelling B competitions, which were held at the parish level at the preliminary stage of the contests, are designed to foster intellectual and social development of our youths.
