OUTSTANDING YOUTH RECEIVE AWARDS  
The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports has awarded outstanding youth in several categories during its 2008 National Youth Awards. The awards ceremony was staged at the Grenada Trade Centre on Friday, October 24, 2008 as part of Youth Month 2008 celebrations. The gala ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports Honorable Patrick Simmons, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing Sen. Hon. Glenn Noel and President of the Senate, Sen. Hon. Joan Purcell among others. Minister Simmons spoke of the importance of promoting the positive work of the nation’s youth through activities such as the awards ceremony and reiterated the government’s commitment to the empowerment of Grenada ’s youth. This year’s awardees are as follows: Outstanding Youth Entrepreneur - Mr. Gary Mark Outstanding Youth in Education - Ms. Kerricia Hobson Outstanding Youth in Education -Ms. Nerissa Baptiste Outstanding Youth in Agriculture- Mr. Andrei Ottley Outstanding Youth in Teaching- Mr. Richard Pierre Outstanding Youth in Law Enforcement- Const. Damian Redhead Outstanding Youth in Nursing- Ms. Carla Baptiste Outstanding Youth in Nursing-Ms. Zelda McKenzie Moore Outstanding Youth in Medicine- Dr. Devon Francis Outstanding Youth in Law -Ms. Dia Chantelle Forrester Outstanding Youth in Media- Ms. Eugenia Peters Outstanding Youth in Sports(Male)- Mr. Kirani James Outstanding Youth in Sports(Female)- Ms. Afy Fletcher Outstanding Youth in Youth Work- Mr. Kevin Andall Outstanding Youth in Culture- Kelon and Kelson Ogiste Award for continued broadcast of youth related activities- Wee 93.3FM Award for continued broadcast of youth related activities- Real 91.9FM The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports congratulates the awardees on their achievement and also takes this opportunity, to encourage them to continue being positive role models to other youth.
