The Ministry of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports has awarded outstanding youth in several categories during its 2008 National Youth Awards. The awards ceremony was staged at the Grenada Trade Centre on Friday, October 24, 2008 as part of Youth Month 2008 celebrations. The gala ceremony was attended by Minister of Youth Empowerment, Culture and Sports Honorable Patrick Simmons, Minister of State in the Ministry of Housing Sen. Hon. Glenn Noel and President of the Senate, Sen. Hon. Joan Purcell among others. Minister Simmons spoke of the importance of promoting the positive work of the nation’s youth through activities such as the awards ceremony and reiterated the government’s commitment to the empowerment of Grenada ’s youth. This year’s awardees are as follows: Outstanding Youth Entrepreneur - Mr. Gary Mark Outstanding Youth in Education - Ms. Kerricia Hobson Outstanding Youth in Education -Ms. Nerissa Baptiste Outstanding Youth in Agriculture- Mr. Andrei Ottley Outstanding Youth in Teaching- Mr. Richard Pierre Outstanding Youth in Law Enforcement- Const.
