Shadow Minister for Sports Sen. the Hon. Devon Rache says the recent performances of Andre Fletcher and Lewis Hamilton should serve to motivate young men and women to follow their dreams in the field of sports.
Speaking on the behalf of the opposition, Sen. Rache has extended congratulations to both Andre Fletcher and Lewis Hamilton for their outstanding performances over the weekend. He said Hamilton’s victory which makes him the 2008 FIA Formula 1 World Champion, is an achievement every Grenadian should be proud of. Referring to Andre Fletcher, he noted that Andre contributed to the victory of the Stanford team and his reward of 1 million dollars is well deserved.
Speaking at the General Council Meeting held at St. Mark’s Secondary School on Sunday, Leader of the Opposition, Dr. The Rt. Hon. Keith Mitchell also congratulated the youngsters. He said the investments his administration made in sports were made with the understanding of the potential of our young people. He called on the new Government to continue to build on the many achievements made by the NNP administration while in office.
Speaking on the performance of Hamilton, Dr. Mitchell said that Grenadians have lost out on a golden opportunity to benefit economically from the success of Hamilton, because the NDC Administration is prepared to govern by the politics of spite, hate and envy.

Fellow Grenadians i pose this question to the leader of HM opposition and his shadow minister for sport one mr devon rache tell me please have you people got something to say in terms of praises for only thoes who are winners and not much to thoes how do not win i say this because after the last olympic the them pm now ex sent a message to the people /prime minister of jamaica congratulating him, but there was no mention of our people who took part but did not win but represented their country with pride and was proud to do so and here again they have jump on the bangwagon re mr lewis hamilton and mr andre fletcher but on this occasion (quote) that grenada and in particular our government and its people will be at a lost because quote the way the hamilton issue has been handled to this i say to HM Leader of the opposition mr hamilton is a son of a son of grenada and if his heart is true to its self we do not have to give him £10 MILLION land to tell the world what a great place grenada is we grenadians are a proud lot and will always be, many of our famous people have done it for free by just being a true grenadian take for example our great 400mtr runner and the rest of our olympic runners and lately mr andre fletcher so please do not use this two gentlemen for political gains we deserved better from our opposition party and its members.
