LETTER TO THE EDITOR
Dear Editor, I am writing this letter so those like me who were ignorant of the facts will be enlightened. I have been told that the NNP was responsible for the rising cost of gas and the high electricity bills we pay. After doing my research I found out the following facts: NDC was responsible for selling the electricity company and got only 10 million dollars while 5 million was returned to the company to buy a generator. The owners then must have laughed a ‘bellyfull’. They then gave total right to the company to increase prices as they see fit without reserving the government’s rights to question the rates. Not knowing the implications the NNP Government tried to change this but the law required the case to go to international court costing the government millions and millions of dollars and very little hope of winning. The NNP Government later signed the Petro Caribe agreement to help bring benefits to Grenadians and today the new government benefits from millions of dollars going into the treasury from this arrangement. What we want to know is what the monies are being used for. The government has an excellent opportunity now to increase the revenue from the Petro Caribe arrangement if they follow what the former Government started to do by building the farms so other customers can buy from the Petro Caribe arrangement. This will mean more money for Grenada. About the law passed under the former government every 8 weeks the price of gas is reviewed and can go up or down. When the announcement was made that there will be a price increase it was said that the former government was responsible. However when I did the calculations of the 8 weeks it clearly shows that the current administration as soon as they entered office was responsible for changing the price but they waited for months until the IMF questioned it. So they must take full responsibility. The opposition must take a bow for standing up and fighting for the poor which is one of the reasons that the gas cylinder price did not go up. Thank you Doc, keep on fighting for us. S. Charles (The views/opinions expressed in the above article are those of the writer and not necassarily those of the Inside Grenada Staff). Grenlec was sold for whatever amoumt, but how do you compare the service now from when it was state-owned?I only wish Nawasa was sold too, then all the amount of water in Grenada would be utilized and we wont have water going when rain falls and going when its dry season. And regarding Petro Caribe deal, please get an account to explain the deal to you and if the deal was so benificial to the country why was Grenlec bill increasing since before election and why are we paying more each time oil price increase around the world, our oil price should be based on Petro Caribe price and not the other oil price. It seems NNPites sit down every day and use a magnifyiny glass to scrutinize the present administration instead of preparing themselves for the better times to come,go find some land, plant nutmegs, plant golden apples ,the market will be good, then you wont need KCM handout and you wont have tiome to complaint.Election is 5 years away, and youall wont get back into power as long as KCM is at the helm. SO STOP COMPLAINING

What happens when the price of oil goes up? The price of gas is increased. Is it not? Well I would like to know what also happens when the price of oil goes down. A few months ago oil was up to $150.00, now its down to $65.00. Should there be a drop in gasoline prices?? or should there be another increase?? Grenadians check with your current goverment.
