Wednesday 19th November, 2008, St George’s: Gravel Concrete and Emulsion Production Corporation, the nation’s sole provider of gravel and sand, has had some changes to its management. The Corporation now has a new Acting Manager and a new Board of Directors. Ian Mars is Acting in place of Mr. Fred Antoine who is on one hundred and eighty five (185) days leave. The Chairman of the Board is Mr. Collin La Barrie and Deputy Chairman is Mr. Nigel John. The new team was introduced at Gravel Concrete and Emulsion Corporation’s Annual Staff Meeting on Thursday November 13, 2008. Speaking at the meeting Minister for Works, Physical Development, Public Utilities and the Environment, Hon Joseph Gilbert said that this new management will set a new course for the Corporation. He described the team as competent and have the ability to be effective and efficient in managing the affairs of the Corporation and bring more benefits to staff. The Minister said so far he is satisfied and confident that in the next few years they will be able to say “we have done well’. Among the challenges to be faced by the new management is the building of an entity that is profitable and the need to protect the environment, a reference to the issue of sand mining, which the Minister says will be a thing of the past in 2009. Also at the meeting was Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works Ms Lana Mc Phail. She said this is a focus changing era for the Corporation where more emphasis will be placed on protecting the environment. She urged everyone to get on board. Inside Grenada News
