GRENADA AND FAO DISCUSS WAYS OF UTILISING LOCAL FOODS
The Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries in collaboration with the Food and Agriculture Organisation on Tuesday 18th November held a Workshop geared at promoting the Marketing and Consumption of local produce. About 40 persons drawn from the farming community, agro-processors and Ministry of Agriculture officials attended and participated in the Workshop. The Workshop examined ways to promote, process and market local products. High among the recommendations emanating from the Workshop was the need for the development of policies that will, on a national level, promote the utilization of local products. The Ministry of Agriculture as part of its food security plan has been advocating a return to the land, backyard gardening and a policy to eat what you grow and grow what you eat. GRENADA AND FAO DISCUSS WAYS OF UTILISING LOCAL FOODS
THIS IS MY HOPE. WE CAN AND MUST FEED OUR SELVES.... FOOD SECURITY IS THE ONLY WAY TO GO AND GROW.. WE ARE SMALL THERE IS ENOUGH LAND .. YES AROUND THE HOUSE , THE LITTLE PIECE FROM THE FAMILY. YES WE CAN... FEED GRENADA.. HOWEVER.... WE MUST GO THE ORGANIC WAY. ITS SAFER, GOOD ON THE ENVIRONMENT, TASTE MUCH BETTER. THE WORLD IS GOING THAT WAY, AND SHOULD WE GROW ENOUGH WE CAN SELL ABROAD. SO GO BACK TO THE LAND " YES WE MUST' FEED GRENADA...
