SPICE BOYS DEFEAT TRINIDAD IN CARIBBEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
click
Grenada has defeated rivals Trinidad and Tobago two goals to one (2-1) in the opening game of the Digicel sponsored Caribbean Cup finals played in Jamaica yesterday. The first goal for the Spice Boys was a rather fortuitous one, coming from the boots of Grenadian striker, Kithson Bain, who found himself alone in the box to send a left footer across the goal line after the Trinidadian goalkeeper, Marvin Phillip, saved a penalty from Anthony Modeste. This goal came in the 36th minute of the game. The equalizer from Trinidad came from the boots of Cornel Glen in the 69th minute of the game. While in injury time, however, Grenada’s Ricky Charles was able to make a big play for the Spice Boys and get the ball pass Marvin Phillip to steal a sensational victory for Team Grenada. The eight qualifiers in the Digicel tournament are split into two pools. The finals will be played on December 14, 2008. Trinidad and Tobago is the only Caribbean team in contention for a spot in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa. Inside Grenada News
