VICTORY FOR SIX GRENADA POLICE OFFICERS WHO WERE BY-PAS...
A group of six Grenada police officers who challenged the decision of the Public Service Commission (PSC) not to promote them in July 2007 got their promotion letters after they took the matter to the High Court. The six officers, including Chief Police Prosecutor Vannie Curven and three sergeants, moved to the Courts for redress, since they did exceedingly well in their examinations. Grenada Today reported that, when the matter came up before the High Court last Friday, the Office of the Attorney General decided not to defend the matter further and to issue the appointment letters to the aggrieved police officers. The officers requested that their promotions be made retroactive to July 2007. However, according to Grenada Today, the officers will not press the Tillman Thomas government for retroactive payment since the previous administration is to be blamed. However, they would like the promotion to date back to July 2007 because otherwise they would lose their seniority. One of the aggrieved officers claimed that the previous administration penalised them because it was alleged that they were not supporters of Keith Mitchell and his government Reprinted from Caribbean Net News caribbeannetnews.com
