St. George’s, Monday 12th January, 2009: The Ministry of Education and T.A. Marryshow Community College are anticipating the completion of rehabilitation of the T.A. Marryshow Arts and Science Building. The project, which began last August and facilitates a multiplicity of infrastructural modernisation for the facility, is expected to be completed by May, 2009. It is funded by the Regional Council of Martinique. The facility, which was damaged by Hurricane Ivan in 2004, is expected to undergo renovation as well as expansion. The two-storey classroom and laboratory building will be completely renovated and the damaged roof demolished and replaced with a new timber structure. A new internal suspended ceiling will be constructed, a new metal staircase, handrails, concrete entrance steps, new doors and the complete re-painting of the building. Other repairs include the repainting and re-gazing of windows. The small single-storey concrete building next door is to be completely demolished and replaced with a new state of the art reinforced concrete administrative building which will accommodate the dean and his staff. This project reaches a total of $EC 2,352,636.64. Meanwhile, the construction of a new Science Laboratory, Classroom Block and Administrative Facility is progressing as contractors work toward completing this project by June, 2009.
