St. George's, January 15, 2009, (GIS) - Minister for Foreign Affairs Peter David says the government is committed to furthering and deepening the integration process between Trinidad and the countries of the Organization of Eastern Caribbean States, which includes Grenada. Mr. David believes that the economic crisis facing the OECS and the rest of the world makes the deepening of the integration process a needed and necessary undertaking to successfully meet the current challenges. The OECS/Trinidad integration initiative is receiving strong support throughout the region, the Foreign Minister said. "We feel that it is moving along smoothly,'' he added."Certainly in our discussion with Prime Minister Patrick Manning of Trinidad and Tobago in Cuba last December, he was clearly as excited as he was back in September when the talks on the initiative started.'' Mr. David is firmly of the view that "because of the current economic challenges, we need to deepen the integration process to deal with the problems we are facing.''
