NDC TAKES ALL THE CREDIT FOR NNP ACHIEVEMENTS
click
The leader of the Opposition must be congratulated for an excellent job done at dissecting and analyzing the 2009 budget thus revealing and making clear to the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique the inaccuracies, trickery, and gimmickry that were so dominant and pervasive in the 2009 budget presented by the Minister of Finance. The National Democratic Congress Government wanted to win the election at any cost with any promise; so during the last election campaign the NDC embarked on extravagant, reckless and unrealistic promises to win the votes of the unsuspecting electorate. They wanted to attain power not as an opportunity to help improve the lives of the people of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique, but as a prize to be won, without any real commitment beyond wining the election; without any social, moral or economic imperative to guide their action once they attain office. That is why the 2009 budget is so empty and lacks any meaningful benefit beyond those already provided by the previous administration. What is interesting to note is that over 90% of the projects and programmes announced in the budget were initiated by the New National Party Government and it is even clearer now that the NNP laid a solid foundation for many benefits we enjoy today. It was the NNP adhering to the IMF programme that yielded favorable reviews that resulted in the delivery of US$ 4.8 million to the treasury immediately after the NDC assumed office. It was therefore impossible for the treasury to be empty when the Minister for finance declared so shortly after. It was the NNP administration through the very hard work of the Ambassador in Brussels and the Minister for Foreign Affairs that got the European Union to commit funding to Grenada in the sum of EC$153 million with the likelihood of more if the money is spent well. It was the NNP administration under the leadership of Dr the Rt Hon. Keith Mitchell that persuaded the Indian Government to contribute $1 million to enhance Information Technology in Grenada. Again the Minister announced that over 2000 houses will be built by the Chinese without indicating that this was already negotiated for by the previous administration. This was part of the package which was negotiated as part of the normalization of relations with the People’s Republic of China. We all recall that the NDC vehemently opposed to Grenada moving to normalize the relationship with China and they went as far as to apologize to the Taiwanese for the NNP decision. Today it is ironical that the same NDC is happy to benefit from the fruits of this relationship and is willing to claim credit for the achievements and plans. How could the Minister for Finance take credit for these achievements with a straight face? The Minister was also happy to speak about the funding for the Venezuela Housing Project, the farm roads project, and the GREP projects all these projects were negotiated and started under the NNP administration. The question left to be asked is ‘What new did NDC bring to the table of development and progress?’ Listening to the Minister of Finance in the last budget debate you would think that the above were accomplishments of the NDC since assuming office in July 2008. The Minister in presenting the budget could have at least given credit to the previous administration for all the benefits he was happy to announce. Instead he attempted to mislead the public to believe that this was the work of the NDC in only six months. The NNP has done its work over the 13 years .While each successive government will benefit from the work of the previous government it is wrong for a new administration to use the accomplishments of the previous government to score cheap political points. Well I see quit naturally that you don’t really know what the role of the opposition is and by the way let the people speak for them self they have a voice and that voice is the ruling NDC they choose them . You talking about crying it seem as if you are not hearing yourself .Comrade, Yes! I say Comrade because we are talking about issues here .may I remind you that Democracy, the well known definition of democracy mean of ,for and by the people and if you don’t have the by the people you don’t have a democracy. The way I see it they have to have a way of participating it have to be for them of then and by them. So stop beating you NNP chest about NDC taking credit this is not the people speaking it is the voices of a wounded snake trying to find its way into the hearts of the people they have mislead for the past years. when you have real issues to talk about then I join with you to see that the NDC deliver but NNP had more than five years to do better than they have done and they laps face it when they won those election the people did not have a real opposition so any kind of people could of join the band wagon. Oh and by the way, do not critic NDC to much because the NNP needed some of them from Canada back in time to join them. Say no more John do not go too far ok. I would not say any more because a lot of you will be in a mess. So let the people speak naturally please. Perhaps you should have a talk with some of the men on the hill or the guy in Point. Like I have said before the PRG could take a lot of credit for what the NNP did and uncle can take credit for the Airport because it was his long time dream but lack the necessary influence to persuade the world around him. I am happy he was able to see it in his lifetime and Bernard could take personal responsibility for the NIS. So the next time you want to talk about credit take a look in the Grenada political archive and see have done what and then you may have a better understanding I must also let you know that the relationship with China began long before the US invasion and that again was another reason for you invasion or so called rescue mission and then you can give them the credit for the Pink house. Forward ever, Backward never.

Good morning mr neutral funny you do not sound neutral to me it also seems to me that you are one bitter NNPNITE so settle down and give this new government a chance ,you fail to see or understand that when a new government comes into power they have to audit the books left by the outgoing government and if things do not add up all the promise they may have made will then have to be re evaluated, so come give them a chance and as you say lets wait and see. one love grenada.

Gabe and John, I don't think you guys understand the rold of an opposition in a democratic setting. They are looking at shortcomings in the system of governance and are offering possible altrernatives. I am tired with this 'bull-shit' from NDC apologists that NNP hasn't realized that they have lost the elections...everybody knows that the NDC has formed the government! The opposition is now doing their job, it is up to the Government to now perform and execute the policies that were advocating when they were in opposition! They need to govern and stop crying out as spoilt babies if someone disagrees with them. What are you guys advocating, that because the opposition has lost the elections, they need to just remain silent and not perform their constitutional responsibilities? You guys need to get real! I have a feeling that the next five years, the NDCs style of leadership will be to blame NNP for everything, because they do not seem to have a solid enough agenda. Already I am fed-up with this cry baby attitude.

Good morning Mr John may i say well done for your comments re the NNP AND THEIR SUPPORTERS- it seems that even in opposition these people is still is not coming to terms with the fact that they LOST the last election and may i also say that the election before was marred by the fact that there had to be a recount in carriacou, so its about time they shut up, it is they who went into the last election thinking that they were going to win they had forgotten that at the end of the day the people decided that they had enough of the NNP NASTINESS and wanted a change, yes they the NNP have done some good but please compare that to some of the other unspeakable things that they have done. Grenada is currently debt ridden left behind by the said NNP borrow, borrow policy and may be thats why they are constantly on the go re this government so that these issues dont show their ugly faces , so Grenadian please dont be fooled by they the NNP constant negative comments.ps can some one tell me please now that the nnp is in opposition who is charge with removing their slogans which is spread all over Grenada ,on the roads, on the lamposts,on walls by the sea sides, the government needs to make an order to get them the NNP to clean it up and return CLEAN Grenada back to its people and not the nnp.
