TORONTO SUPPORT GROUP OF THE NATIONAL DEMOCRATIC CONGRE...
The executive and members of the Toronto Support Group of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) would like to express our deep sorrow to former Prime Minister Sir Nicholas Brathwaite and his family on the death of Lady Pansy Brathwaite. The 70-year-old Lady Pansy, a former teacher at the Hillsborough Government School in Carriacou, was the wife of Sir Nicholas. She died January 14. An official of NDC Toronto described Lady Pansy as a "devoted and loving wife and mother.'' He added: "She was a pillar of support to Sir Nicholas through their entire marriage, including the period when he shouldered the responsibility of leader of the Tri-island State of Grenada, Carriacou and Petite Martinique.'' Carriacou-born Sir Nicholas entered politics in 1983 when he accepted an invitation to become leader of the Interim Administration that was set up after the 1983 United States-led invasion of Grenada. He was leader of the NDC when the party formed the government in 1990, becoming our nation's fifth Prime Minister. "Lady Pansy was a highly respected citizen who was well-loved by everyone who knew her,'' the NDC Toronto spokesman said. "All of us in the Support Group are saddened by her passing. We pray that God will comfort Sir Nicholas and the rest of his family at this moment of extreme sadness and bereavement.'' INSIDE GRENADA NEWS
