A number of activities will be held which will see participation from citizens, schoolchildren and business places. Some of the activities include an independence road race on January 30th among the secondary schools and later that evening a local food fest and traditional cultural evening is expected to take place at the mini stadium in Lauriston. Other activities include an independence colours dance at the Coconut Bar on January 31st and an independence church service at the Petite Martinique RC School on February 1st. The parish celebration for Petite Martinique will be held on February 4th, 2009 at the Petite Martinique RC School while the celebration in Carriacou will be held on February 5th at the mini-stadium in Lauriston. The independence activities in Carriacou and Petite Martinique will culminate with a National Food Fest on the 486 acres island of Petite Martinique.
