WALL STREET CLOSURE
The Royal Grenada Police Force is increasingly concerned with the night time activities conducted in the immediate vicinity of Gittens Drug Mart and Republic Bank, Grand Anse South St. George, commonly referred to as Wall Street. These activities usually go late into the night and early hours of the morning. The police have had to respond to a number of Criminal activities in the area including a recent murder, robberies, chopping incidents, cases of prostitution and high levels of noise pollution. In addition, the general area is left in a very unsanitary state due to the lack of public facilities. As a result, Commissioner of Police Mr. James Clarkson after consultation with his Senior Management team has decided, effective Monday 26th January 2009 and until further notice, all vending operations and other such related activities in this area would not be permitted after 6 p.m. daily. The Royal Grenada Police Force looks forward to the understanding and continued co-operation of the general public as we endeavour to serve, and make this nation a safer place. I support the closure; Grenada is a beautiful island and should not be blemished by unsavory activities. Something, more organized and supervised sounds like an alternative.
