HEALTH CARE FIRST RESPONDERS RECEIVE TRAINING  
Tuesday January 27, 2009, St. George’s; More than Sixty ambulance drivers and orderlies attached to the General Hospital and Community Health Departments are undergoing four days of training in basic life support, lifting patients and customer service. The training, which began on Monday at St. George’s University (SGU), is funded by the Pan American Health Organization (PAHO) and coordinated jointly by the Ministry of Health and SGU. Quality Improvement Officer, nurse Ruth Penny said the training exercise is aimed at improving the quality of service and care offered to clients. She said the manner in which drivers and orderlies execute their duties as First Responders and members of the Emergency Services Unit, is of paramount importance in the provision of healthcare. The workshop is facilitated by Dr. Theresa Mc Cann of the SGU. All participants will receive a certificate at the end of the training period. INSIDE GRENADA NEWS
