CARRIACOU FARMERS SHOWCASE THEIR PRODUCE

Hillsborough, Carriacou, 2nd February, 2009- Minister of Carriacou & Petite Martinique Affairs, Senator, the Hon. George Prime has pledged to work with the Carriacou Farmers Association (CFA) to ensure that agriculture moves forward. In an address to the 2nd annual Carriacou Farmers Association Food Exhibition on Sunday, February 1st, 2009, Minister Prime said efforts are being made to get the tractor service restored. He said the administration is working toward a public/private sector partnership to have other tractors available to farmers. A wide variety of locally grown fruits and vegetables, including onions, carrots and pumpkin were on display at the Exhibition. Farmers Representative in the Senate, Keith Clouden, who attended the function, promised to do “everything within my power” to ensure that the issues and concerns of farmers are properly addressed. Senator Clouden also called on government to improve the conditions and environment for agriculture so it becomes a profitable industry.
