CHURCH MINISTER GIVES ADVICE TO THE NATION
ST GEORGE’S, Grenada, Feb. 3rd (GIS) - A top church official has some advice for the leaders of Grenada. Presbyterian Minister Osbert James wants them to lead the Nation in the fear of God. He made the comments at an Ecumenical Service on Sunday, which marked the first of the seven days of count down to Grenada's 35th Anniversary of Independence. Among those present at the service at the St. David Roman Catholic Church were Governor General His Excellency Carlyle Glean, as well as Prime Minister Tillman Thomas and other members of his government. The Presbyterian Minister, while giving praise and thanks to God for his blessings on the nation, also provided counselling to our country's leaders. "We would only be able to take our country where it has the potential to go, when we as a people remove from our life all that divide and destroys and rather introduce practices, plans, projects and programs which provides peace and prosperity,” he said. Minister James also directed remarks at the Grenadian people, offering words of encouragement to them. "It's time for us to stop leaving to the state what we can do for ourselves regardless of what you think about the period when we had a revolutionary government. It was a time where people work together for the good of their country". Independence Day for Grenada is on Saturday, February 7. Minister James says the day should be an exhibition of true “Grenadianism”. "Let us be Grenadians of the soil kind, and let us celebrate 35 years of Grenadianism. Let us celebrate as though we mean it and let us resolve and rededicate ourselves to the call, to country. Let us indeed demonstrate in everything that we do, that we are proud of being a Grenadian,” he said. FROM: Government Information Service (GIS) INSIDE GRENADA NEWS
