STATEMENT FROM THE RGPF CONCERNING WALL STREET VENDING
The general public and all concerned vendors are advised that with immediate effect, all forms of unauthorized public vending at the Wall Street area in Grand Anse St. George’s would not be permitted. The Wall Street area is presently designated a no vending zone, and as a result, all vendors wishing to operate at the location during the day and/or at night must immediately seek the required authority and permission from the relevant authority. Sitting the increase in criminal activities and anti social behavior, the operational staff of the Central Division of the R.G.P.F. has been directed to monitor and effectively enforce the law as it relates to that type of operation. Members of the Criminal Investigation Department are currently investigating a number of matters relating to activities at this location, including an altercation on Sunday 1st February 2009 that resulted in the front window of one of the businesses at the location being broken. “It is not the responsibility of the RGPF to grant permission to persons to vend, but it is our responsibility to enforce the law and provide a safe environment for all,” said Commissioner Clarkson. The Royal Grenada Police will be addressing the issue of illegal vending island wide including vending operations following and around funerals. As a result all persons engaged in these activities must ensure they obtain the relevant authority and license to vend, including the required license for the sale of alcoholic beverages. The Royal Grenada Police Force looks forward to the understanding and continued co-operation of the general public as we endeavour to improve the quality of service to the public, and make this nation a safer place. STATEMENT FROM THE RGPF CONCERNING WALL STREET VENDING
I’ll like to thank the authority(s) in Grenada for starting to implement civil lawfulness on the island. As a visitor of your island for many years, I find that the enforcement of law and order was almost minimal and as result left a repulsive and discouraging taste for me to return to the island. I hope this enforcement is one of many to be addressed, including the harassment of couples and single women by some of the young males on the island. I must say that the majority of young men I’ve meet, are very intelligent, respectful and civil but that the ones that cause negative impact for the island should be dealt with strongly. I hope with the initiation of those enforcements, your country will be able to develop strong institutions and make this island once of the best place in the world to live and visit .It’s one of the best island I’ve ever seen and may god Bless and protect it.
