STATEMENT BY PRIME MINISTER HON. TILLMAN THOMAS ON REPO...
click
ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA - “As Prime Minister and Minister for National Security, I give the assurance to every Grenadian, that no decision has been made as to the release of any inmate or group of inmates at the Richmond Hill Prisons. I have not received from any group or organization, any request or recommendation regarding the release of anyone. I wish to further state that there has been no discussion in or decision by the Cabinet on the release of prisoners. I view this situation as an attempt to distract the Grenadian people, at this time, from the real challenges of building this country together. It is both regrettable and unfortunate. When I took office in July, 2008, I pledged my government’s commitment to openness, transparency and accountability in the governance of Grenada. Therefore, I regard these attempts to feed the rumour mill and create turmoil and uncertainty in our society, from whatever quarter, as regrettable and irresponsible, especially as we celebrate our 35th Anniversary of Independence. It is also unfortunate that these series of untruths and rumours are being fuelled at a time when Grenada needs a strong united approach to our development and our future. The fact is that a simple telephone conversation with my office, by responsible people, would have laid these statements to rest. My administration remains focused on dealing with the critical issues of managing this country through a period of global recession.” INSIDE GRENADA NEWS
