Intercessory prayers were said on behalf of the Government and people of Grenada on Monday 9th February during Evensong at Westminster Abbey in London, UK. Dean of Westminster, The Very Reverend Dr John Hall, welcomed the High Commissioner for Grenada HE Ruth Elizabeth Rouse, along with Grenadian Nationals residing in the United Kingdom, to mark the celebration of 35 years as an Independent Nation. The High Commissioner was invited to read the second lesson from the second chapter of the letter of St. James, which exhorted that we should treat our brothers and sisters equally and without favouritism. During the prayers, Grenadians were encouraged to continue to strive for unity and strengthen the bonds of friendship which already exists. The High Commissioner thanked the many nationals who braved the inclement weather to participate in the service. The Independence Celebrations will climax on Saturday February 14th 2009, with a Gala Dinner and Dance in Northolt, Middlesex, hosted by the Grenada, Carriacou and Petit Martinique Arts Promotion Group and the Grenada Support Group.
