St. George’s, Grenada _ Prime Minister Hon. Tillman Thomas today met and held discussions with Israeli Ambassador, His Excellency Amos Radian during a courtesy call on the Prime Minister’s Office at the Botanical Gardens. The Grenadian leader discussed matters of mutual concern and areas of bilateral cooperation with specific emphasis on agriculture and training. “The enhancement of our human resource is central to our overall development plan for Grenada, therefore we will give our support to initiatives that provide training to our people,” the Prime Minister told Ambassador Radian. He pointed out that Grenada was experiencing some difficulty in benefiting from some of the training programmes offered by Israel due to the cost of travel. The Ambassador said the issue is being addressed by Israel through the involvement of United Nations Agencies in Israeli training opportunities and by bringing Israeli experts to Grenada and the region. He said under the new approach, UN agencies will help by paying the airfare for persons accessing training opportunities in Israel, while the host country meets all other expenses. The Prime Minister also took the opportunity to discuss the recent Israeli elections in which no single party won enough seats to form a government and the Israeli conflict with the Hamas ruled Gaza. Both men agreed that “the world will be a better place if we can solve our problems without the use of weapons or the outbreak of war.” Ambassador Radian, who is accompanied by his wife, will be in Grenada for two days and is also scheduled to meet with the Minister for Agriculture, Hon. Denis Lett. From: Office of the Prime Minister INSIDE GRENADA NEWS
