The Ministry of Social Development is continuing to assist victims of domestic abuse.
The Ministry held a training course aimed at better equipping for court clerks throughout Grenada, with the skills to prepare applications for victims of domestic abuse who are seeking protection orders from the court against abusers.
According to coordinator of the Domestic Violence Unit within the Ministry of Social Development, Mrs. Merle Walker, “the training will eliminate the cost of having to hire a lawyer and it will speed up the process, thus enabling victim’s to be protected as soon as possible.”
Over 20 participants were present at the workshop.
The training, facilitated by Director of Legal Aid and Counseling Clinic Mrs. Jacquelyn Sealy Burke, was an initiative off the Ministry of Social Development.
The Ministry will embark on follow-up sessions with participants to ensure that the stipulated guide lines are followed.
