ST.GEORGE’S, GRENADA, MARCH 20, 2009_ Prime Minister, Hon. Tillman Thomas, has expressed condolences to the family of the late Dr. Lorna Mc Barnette, a Grenadian who served as former New York State Executive Deputy Commissioner of Health. Dr. Mc Barnette died suddenly in New York on Tuesday. The following is the full text of his message. “It is with deep sadness that I have learnt of the untimely passing of Dr. Lorna Mc Barnette, although resident in New York, she was always in touch with her homeland. Dr. Mc Barnette was proud of her Grenadian heritage and served as a point of contact and organiser for organisations and groups in North America who wanted to offer assistance to enhance Grenada’s health system. Grenada remains ever proud of her successes and achievements. She was a professional, who gave of her best, in the hope of improving the lives of those with whom she came into contact. On behalf of the Government and the People of Grenada, I offer condolences to the family, friends and close associates of Dr. Mc Barnette. We celebrate her life but mourn her passing.
