More than 90 young people and several private sector establishments will be participating in the Grenada Youth Education and Training (GYET) programme in Carriacou.
The programme will be launched in the 13-square-mile Sister Island tomorrow, Tuesday, March 24, 9 am, at John’s Unique Resort Conference Room.
GYET, which has already had its launch on mainland Grenada, is designed to facilitate youth in obtaining certified training to enhance their employability, thus helping to reduce unemployment in the nation.
Participants at Tuesday’s launch will be addressed by Minister for Youth Empowerment, Hon. Patrick Simmons, and Minister for Carriacou and Petite Martinique Affairs, Senator the Hon. George Prime.
The opening session is expected to be attended by representatives of the 25 businesses that have expressed an interest in providing opportunities for on-the-job training for GTET youth, and which also believe they can benefit from the help of the participants to increase company productivity.
A four-day orientation session will begin following Tuesday’s GYET official launch.
