CATHOLIC PRIEST ATTACKED BY BANDITS
click
Three young men are currently in police custody and are assisting the lawmen in their investigations into last Saturday’s brutal attack and assault of a parish priest stationed at Birch Grove, St. Andrew’s. The attack on the priest is believed to have occurred sometime around 11 pm on Saturday March 21, 2009. It is believed that the priest was wounded in this vicious attack, which led to his hospitalization. This incident has left a number of persons in the country speechless. A number of parishioners held a candlelight vigil over the weekend in protest against the brazen attack on the well-loved and highly-respected religious leader. The Catholic Bishop on the island, His Lordship Vincent Darius, vehemently condemned the violent attack. This incident has been the subject of discussion among Grenadians over the past few days and many persons have been expressing deep concerns over the apparent upsurge in the level of robberies and assaults that have been taking place in the country in recent times. Concerns have also been expressed over the number of incidents involving fights among school students as well as the many physical assaults that have been taking place in some of the nation’s schools. Some persons are suggesting that the National Democratic Congress administration of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas, which came into political power last year, needs to urgently engage the relevant stakeholders in the country and try to map out a strategy to effectively deal with the apparent upsurge in violence activities in the nation. If these developments are left unattended, the social and economic climate in the country can be severely affected and irretrievably damaged. INSIDE GRENADA NEWS

CATHOLIC PRIEST ATTACKED BY BANDITS
This is truely shocking! I thought if anyone was safe it would be a person of the cloth, but unfortunately not. these people need to be punished to make an example of, so others will never follow this unhuman act.

Dear fellow grenadians i pray that this is not the start of some sort of devil behaviour when for no reason this priest was attacked by as describe by the writer (bandits) i still find the word bandit offencsive these persons are criminals of the lowest kind and when caught should be held without bail until they are tried and convicted and then put away for a very long time as a testiment of the zero tollerance this government has to applied as a deterrent so that these type of crimes do not happen again in grenada, i have said before that we grenadians are a peaceful people and must stay this way for the sake of our children and our country.

Ihope that when these culprits are apprehended they are dealt with the full extent of the law. This government should make criminals know that unlike the former administration, the law will have it's course. Eight years ago a man was brutally attacked in his house in Hope St. Andrew's and had to leave Grenada because these men are still at large.Although it is rumored there are evidence that could apprehend these criminals nothing has been done about it, even if the man lost his left eye and was stabbed about twenty five times. God is watching is and the bible says we should touch not his annointed. I hope they bring back the death sentence in Grenada to teach these conscienceless criminals crime does not pay.
