RELEASE FROM THE ROYAL GRENADA POLICE FORCE
Officers of the Western Division are making an urgent appeal to owners of dogs to properly secure their animals, thus avoiding the animals from causing harm and distress to other persons. The appeal is being made as a result of the growing number of complaints of dogs attacking livestock and also causing damage to private property. Superintendent Floyd Dragon, divisional commander of the area, says there is a serious cause for concern and we are appealing to residents in the areas to assist the Police by being vigilant and make reports in a timely manner to enable our Officers to respond appropriately. The involvement of the community is crucial, to monitor and report, thus enabling the Police to effectively deal with this development, Superintendent Dragon concluded. Over the past three months over 150 animals, goats & sheep, were attacked and/or killed by dogs. Reports indicate 30 animals in St. Patrick, 80 in St. Mark’s and 60 in the St. John’s area. In the spirit of building stronger bonds within our communities the Police are urging persons to be more considerate, take responsibility and secure their dogs. Persons are assured that the Officers of the Western Division will continue to monitor this situation and respond accordingly. We look forward to your continued cooperation.
