Commissioner of Police Mr. James Clarkson has instructed the Divisional Commanders of the Royal Grenada Police Force to immediately and aggressively respond to the indiscriminate use of firearms across the country. The Commissioner’s directive comes as a result of an incident last Saturday night in the Four Roads area of St. George’s where a 33 year old Grand Mal resident was shot. Wayne Charles received a single gun shot to his right hip and had to be hospitalized. Members of the Criminal Investigation Departments are presently investigating the matter and are seeking the assistance of the community in this regard. Anyone with information that could assist the Police should contact the Criminal Investigation Department or call the Police Tips line at 444 1958 This is a very serious matter and will be given the highest priority by the Force says Commissioner Clarkson. We will not allow the indiscriminate use of firearms in our Country, and it is our intention to use our resources to discontinue the practice and also to rid our streets of all illegal weapons in the process, the Commissioner concluded. The shooting in Four Roads is the second in recent weeks involving the use of illegal firearms. The Police are seeking the assistance of persons to report any matter involving the use of firearms and or sporadic noises believed to be caused from the discharge of a firearm. The Royal Grenada Police Force looks forward to the cooperation of the general public. From the Royal Grenada Police Force (RGPF)
