The Board of the Grenada Cooperative Nutmeg Association (GCNA) has been informed by the Minister of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries that it will be dissolved on Monday April 20, 2009. It is believed that this action was taken as a result of a Cabinet decision. The decision to dissolve the GCNA Board was taken as a result of the following: • GCNA's protracted failure to act in accordance with Sections 69, 70, 71 and 75 of the Nutmeg Industry Act; • GCNA's failure to implement section 58 in the interest of nutmeg farmers; • The organization's negligence to effect a sale worth US$400,000; and • GCNA's poor financial and management practices The Acting minister of Agriculture, Hon. Michael Church, has invited the Board to offer a response before the date set for the dissolution. It is rumored that the members of the Board are not very pleased with this development and might be seeking legal advice in the matter.

GCNA BOARD TO BE DISSOLVED
I and i am sure several other people in our country this lovely country is at long last glad that something is being done about the management team within the GCNA ,these people and those responsible including the previous government the NNP WAS HELL BENT ON DESTROYING THE NUTMEG AND COCOA INDUSTRY,take for example after the passing of IVAN people were promise nutmeg plants to replant and thoes people who got them were people close to the NNP,others it seems is still waiting, that also include the giving of fertilizes to local farmers again it was who you know who gets it and so i totally agree that the management of GCNA had to go to bring in some new and bright positive faces to help get this industry back on its feet again.
