GRENADA GOVERNMENT DENIES WORK PERMIT TO POPULAR JAMAIC...
click
The Government of Grenada has denied performance work permits to popular Jamaican Dancehall Artist Adija Palmer aka Vybz Kartel, and his band. The "red-hot" entertainer, whose controversial lyrics have brought him lots of media attention both in and out of Jamaica, was scheduled to perform a “rap-it-up” concert in Grenville St. Andrews on Sat. May 2nd 2009, where his popular Daggering condom was to be officially launched. Vybz Kartel, who is well known for his hard hitting ghetto lyrics and rival showdowns with popular Artist Marvado, has been leaning towards more positive messages in his songs, with emphasis on respecting Women and Mothers and hints of Rasta-fari teachings. His recent condom campaigns for saving lives have also been well received. Vybz Kartel’s recent release “Mama” has taken the charts by storm, and the Artist will be doing several performances in the Caribbean, to include neighboring Trinidad and Tobago on May 8th 2009. No reason was given by the Ministry of Labour in Grenada for the refusal of the work permits, but the sensitive issue of censorship or freedom of expression may have been at the forefront. The promoter of the event is claiming thousand of dollars in losses and is now seeking legal advice, since neither himself nor the Artists were aware of the Government’s blacklisting. Vybz Kartel last performed in Grenada Dec. 5th 2008 to a sold out audience. The promoter will like to apologize to the public for the Cancellation of the event, which was beyond his control and looks forward to their continued support. Released by:Dexter Tillock

GRENADA GOVERNMENT DENIES WORK PERMIT TO POPULAR JAMAIC...
What i am saying,if you are educated you will know that this music is for entertainment purposes only.We should not take that music to serious. Those few that take it seriously are in the minority, that shows that most people here know the diffrence. Those knuckle heads that want to listen filth and want to act upon it must be dealth with.As you at it, band movies with violence in it,espically American movies.Do you get the point? Here in Grenada education is best to combat ignorance. We should able to go and listen as adults and entertain ourselves, withot government involvements.

Mr Roy help me out here what is your point - you want government to educate its people ,you want government to ban children from going to such function/dance, but then you said it was ok for adult to go and spend their money and listen to as you call it filth now i ask what is your point,Mr Roy you only have to take a close look at what is currently happening in jamaica and trinidad to see why we in grenada and in particular our government to get a hold of this type of negative forces which distract our people from positive role modeling instead of listening to all this bad mouthed /vulgar performing artists who grace our island both from inside and outside of our country.

THE GOVERNMENT JOB IS TO EDUCATE ITS PEOPLE,THEN LET THE PEOPLE SPEND TO SEE AND HEAR THAT ARTIST.WE COULD BAND UNDER AGE CHILDREN FROM GOING TO THAT SHOW,BUT FOR ADULTS TO BE DEPRIVED FROM SPENDING MONEY ON FILTH,IS NOT THE GOVERNMENT BUSINESS.JUST NOW WE WILL HAVE A DICATORSHIP REGIME.
