NEW YORK, April 27, 2009 – The New York Office of the Consul General and Embassy of Grenada in Washington DC have been in contact with Grenadian students in Mexico following an outbreak of Swine Flu in Mexico.
Officials from both offices in the United States spoke jointly with Stephann St. John and Renortha Penny who have been requested to assist in establishing a network to communicate with all Grenadian students in Mexico.
The students were sent guidelines to protect themselves in the interim and a donation of face masks will be dispatched to the students on Tuesday.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) said Monday 73 cases of swine flu have been confirmed worldwide. Hundreds more cases are suspected, especially in Mexico, where deaths thought to have been caused by the virus are rising. Nearly 2,000 people have been hospitalized and 776 remain in hospitals. |
