Hillsborough, May 4th- Carriacou will join the world wide celebration of international Family Day this year, to recognize the importance of families to the island. The Division of Gender & Family Affairs, within the Ministry of Carriacou & Petite Martinique Affairs is spearheading the activity against the backdrop of a rapid break down of family relationships, the disappearance of traditional values and the decline of the extended family structure. The Celebration of International Family Day will take the form of a Fun Day on Sunday, May 17th at the Paradise Beach . The Division will be attempting to highlight the importance and significance of the family structure and the role it plays in the lives of young people, in preparing for adulthood. The Family Fun Day targets both adults and youths. It will involve sporting and cultural activities, traditional games, food and other entertainment. A special appeal is being made to members of the public to attend this event.
