START OF THE GRENADA NETBALL ASSOCIATION'S NATIONAL TOU...
The Grenada Netball Association's National Tournament shot off on Saturday May 2, 2009 at the Tanteen netball Complex in St. George. The teams gathered at Burns Point and marched across to the complex with drumming from the PBC Drum Corps. The Opening ceremony immediatley followed during which President of the Association, Mrs. Patsy Dragon welcomed the teams as well as introduced the new Executive Body of the Association. Mrs. Dragon informed the teams that this year's tournament will be a little different as the usual sponsor LIME was not able to cover sponsorship of the Tournament this year. However, with the Tournament being so important especially in the search of talent for the national teams, the Association had to take the initiative to have the tournament even without a sponsor. The National Teams are currently in training as the Senior Team will participate in the CANOC Games in Trinidad & Tobago while the under 23 team will defend their title at the ECCB OECS Under 23 Championship in Nevis. Both tournaments are in July 2009. The Minister of Sports, Hon. Patrick Simmons was on hand to officially declare the Tournament open while the new Patron of the Association, lady Glean made the first pass. The March Pass was won by Police while ADM Queens Park Rangers placed second and Shamrock third.
